DODGER STADIUM!!!!

This CUTE girl in the green is Jenna Riding. She is a singer songwriter form Idaho. I Love her voice. She has a very organic sound, and she is BEAUTIFUL! She made it to Hollywood week on American Idol a few years ago, and was featured on Good Morning America. The Darling girl to the right is Nancy Jones. What a sweet girl! She also has a BEAUTIFUL voice. I can't believe some of these contestants have not gone professional.

yesterday was a LOOOONG day, I competed in a vocal competition. The competition started with over 500 singers and was narrowed down to 80. After today's competition it will be narrowed down to 20 and so on until they get to the top 6.The winner gets to sing the National Anthem at Dodger Stadium!!! What an incredible opportunity to possibly represent my faith doing what I LOVE! At this point in the competition I think it's more about what they are looking for, and who they want to represent the church. For the most part everyone was fantastic! When I first arrived I was getting to know some of the other contestants. I couldn't help overhearing some of the conversations. One contestant mentioned she had 20 plus years of vocal lessons, another contestant sharing how she was a vocal coach, and had over 40 students. This went on and on with other contestants talking about how they have travel the world because of their music. Such incredible talent! In over 27 years of singing and performing, I have never been around such beautiful, talented singers. I found myself wanting to share some of my accomplishments, but refrained.

I couldn't help but feel a little overwhelmed. Here I am a small town girl who has never had vocal lessons, then I remembered, it's not about me, it has never been about me. All feelings of competitiveness were gone and void. I have always tried to sing whenever or wherever I have been asked. Not for my own personal gain, but in hopes to inspire others and lift them up. There is nothing more rewarding as a singer to know you have touched someones heart through your music.

Nothing may come from this competition, but what I have learned is 1: The importance of believing in someone or something greater than yourself. 2: There is nothing wrong with having a quiet confidence . 3: There is something to be said about a small town girl with small town grit!
