School Days-School Days

Every year when my children start school I get a little lump in my throat. I realize how great an opportunity it is for them to go to school, to grow and learn. I always think to myself, have I taught them enough, will they be ok?……. The greatest desire I have for my children is that they know who they are. I want them to be an unduplicated version of themselves, not a smaller version of me.

I want them to know that their worth can’t be measured by a grade, or their ability to kick a Soccer ball. Ultimately, I want them to understand that they are children of God with Divine attributes and eternal possibilities.

I will continue to do my best, to love my children for WHO they are not WHAT I want them to be....

I love you Kam and Winn!

Cherokee and his grandson

One evening an old Cherokee told his grandson about a battle that goes on inside people.

He said, "My son, the battle is between two "wolves" inside us all.

One is Evil. It is anger, envy, jealousy, sorrow, regret,

greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies,

false pride, superiority, and ego.

The other is Good. It is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity,

humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity,

truth, compassion and faith."

The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather:

"Which wolf wins?"

The old Cherokee simply replied, "The one you feed."

Hometown Lovin!

About a month ago, I was asked to sing at the Horse-races. The Horse-races are a huge event in my hometown, which brings hundreds of people together. The biggest races of the year are on July 24th. It was at the Horse-race’s that I received my first standing ovation. I was 9 years old and I sang “Stand By your Man” Funny, what does a 9 year old know about "standing by your man." HA!

                                        National Anthem

It was great to lookout at the audience and see so many familiar faces. The people of my hometown have always been so supportive of me and my music. I’m so grateful for that. Sometimes, all you need is a little hometown lovin! Thanks to all who came out
