To be, or not to be, that is the question

Did you know that April is poetry month?

A poem is simply lyrics without music and touches my heart just the same.

I had the opportunity to judge a Poetry contest at one of our local elementary schools a few weeks ago.

I loved every minute of it!

It was so sweet to watch the little ones get up and recite their poems, but I was unexpectedly moved and touched as I watched the 5th and 6th grade kids recite Shakespeare.

"Poetry can startle you,
awaken you, make you fall in love, take your breath away.
When those words sink in,
you'll never look at your life or your journey the same way again"
-Maria Shriver

Make it a point to read some poetry. I promise you won't regret it. :)

I Love the beauty of the poem below. It's one of my favorites. I'm sure many of you have felt this same way about your children.

"There is so much I can learn from you
you with the wide-open eyes and the quick smile
Delight, Wonder, Purity, Laughter, Curiosity, Faith

Let us take turns, then, in this dance
Of leading and following.

And if we keep our eye on
The Leader who never is lost,
surely we will find and share
Those sweet, still waters."

-Carol Lynn Pearson

PS. If you are a follower of this blog then you will remember my Mother writes Poetry. Nothing published, Just little things she jots down here and there. Perhaps I can convince her to let me post some of her poems. :)
